Old Town of Nesebar
What Nessebar is best known for is the old town ( which is about 9000 years) on the peninsula. Most of the buildings which are best known date back from 11th to 14th centuries almost all of which are exclusively churchies in the so called "picturesque" style.
“Christ Pantokrator” church (10th - 11th c.) is a must-see when visiting Nessebar. Some of the churches have strikingly beautiful facades and interiors and are among the best preserved ones in the Balkan Peninsula. The oldest church here is the “Sveti Ioan Krastitel” (St.John the Baptist) 10th -11th century. Today the old part of Nessebar has regained its original romantic and authentic atmosphere: narrow cobblestone lanes, tiny squares, two-storey houses with stone ground levels and wooden upper floors protruding above the streets and external staircases, taverns and lovely flower gardens.
