Kiten

The town of Kiten is smaller than the nearby Primorsko with its population less than 1,000 people. Kiten is situated on a small peninsula at the south end of the Primorsko Bay, 56km south of Bourgas.

Today’s village lies over the ruins of the Urdoviza Fortress located on the cape itself. The settlement was abandoned at the time the Turkish domination and was re-inhabited right after the Liberation. The village was founded in 1931 by fugitives from Greece but it has changed into a tourist destination only after 1970.

As for beautiful landmarks and places of interest one can savour the nature and rocky hills. Besides the steep end of the rocky cape, one can enjoy their eyes on the river of Karaagach, which flows into the sea at the southern part of the Urdoviza Bay. One can also take a walk by the river up to its spring in the nature of the Strandzha mountain.

Kiten offers loads of private lodgings and a couple of small hotels, which have grown in the past few years with the expansion of the tourism industry. There is another option - one can choose among the camping sites some of which are in or close to the village: Atliman, Les, Koral, Koop and Yug. Local people are always friendly, while rents are relatively low (in comparison to those in the nearby town of Primorsko).
